RNMC Superintendent Information Systems at KGHM

The Superintendent, Information Systems (“IS”) role is to provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing strategic technology initiatives throughout the Robinson mine. The Superintendent directs the planning and implementation of technology resources in support of business operations in order to improve cost effectiveness, service quality, business development aligned with the operation strategy. This individual is responsible for all aspects of the operation’s IS infrastructure and providing innovative solutions that meet present and future business needs. The Superintendent, IS will work closely with decision makers in all business units to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective strategic technology solutions for all aspects of the operation. The IS Superintendent will demonstrate core values of: Zero Harm, Results Driven, Success through Teamwork, Courageous and Accountability.


• At least 2 years’ experience as a Senior Network Coordinator or Business Analyst
• At least 5 years’ experience in IT, if degreed, 10 years if not
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar field is recommended; MBA with a technical emphasis or MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Computer Engineering is better as long as there is real-world experience in the IT field
• Experience may be substituted for a degree; a minimum of 5 years’ experience in IT preferred, in positions of increasing responsibility with  a degree, 10 years without
• Knowledge of network infrastructure
• Knowledge of project management and ability to work on multiple projects with tight timelines simultaneously
• Knowledge of employee and team management
• Knowledge of budget and finance management and accountability
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows products’
• Excellent written and oral communications skills with the ability to present ideas in business and user friendly language
• Proven experience in IT planning, organization, and development
• Strong analytical, evaluative and problem-solving abilities


• Establish and lead IS strategic and operational planning to support the operations goals and objectives by implementing innovative solutions, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT infrastructure across the operations. 
• Assists in the planning and implementation of additions, deletions and major modifications to the supporting regional infrastructure. • Implements network security at the regional level as established by corporate Security
• Oversees the administration and maintenance of infrastructure, and directs more junior Innovators when necessary.
• Oversees the administration of the LAN/WAN.
• Manages and develops upgrades to the telephone system.
• Oversees all telephone changes.
• Oversees the administration and maintenance of computer stations and software for IT training programs and provides additional support if necessary.
• Oversees troubleshooting, systems backups, archiving, and disaster recovery and provides support when necessary.
• Works with project teams to help implement Internal Systems.
• Oversees all help desk activities
• Ensures that help desk reporting is accurate and meaningful.
• Responds to escalated help desk issues.
• Oversees the administration and maintenance of IT asset tracking software.
• Interacts with internal clients on all levels to help resolve IT-related issues and provides answers in a timely manner.
• In alignment with Supply Chain, builds and maintains vendor relationships and manages the purchase of hardware and software products. • In alignment with Supply Chain, manages the purchasing of all software, hardware and other IT supplies at the site level.
• Ensures that company assets are maintained responsibly
• Seeks and participates in development opportunities above and beyond training required by the company.
• Trains other innovators and clients through both formal and informal training programs.
• Encourages more junior IT staff to take responsibility for their development within the company.
• Challenges fellow IT staff to progress toward their professional development goals.
• Leads internal teams/task forces
• Strong working knowledge of VMWare, Windows server, networking and SQL
• Ensure IT system operation adheres to applicable laws, regulations and company policies to mitigate risk to the operation.
• Keep current with trends and issues in the IT industry, including current technologies and prices, recommends changes to improve operational effectiveness
• Take responsibility for aspects for occupational health and safety, and environmental matters, over which the individual has control, including adherence to all requirements applicable to KGHM
• Maintains and promotes a culture of safety
• Approves team members' time and expense reports in a conscientious and timely manner.
• Reviews the status reports of team members and addresses issues as appropriate.
• Complies with and helps to enforce standard policies and procedures.
