Vice President & General Manager - DMC Mining Services Corporation at KGHM

The VP/GM will be responsible for shaping and executing the strategy of the company while focusing on profitability and growth initiatives. Responsibilities include directing all activities for mining contracting operations including safety, construction, engineering, environmental, financial and administrative functions. The successful candidate will be accountable for the financial success of DMC through analysis, budgeting, and planning activities to ensure annual objectives are delivered to drive short and long-term financial performance. This role will ensure the delivery of the team's strategic objectives in a way that is action oriented, value added and in line with KGHMI's core values.
This position will be located at DMC Mining Services head office in Vaughan, Ontario. DMC Mining Services is a subsidy of KGHM International.  


Previous Related Work Experience Required:
  • 20+ years of experience in a fast paced mining contracting environment.
  • Progressive leadership experience with 10 years of proven ability to lead high performance teams.
  • Experience in underground mining required.
  • Shaft refurbishment and sinking, raise boring experience preferred.
Education Required:
  • Bachelor in Mining, Metallurgical, Geological Engineering or related discipline.
  • MBA or advanced business education, knowledge and experience a plus.

Special Equipment/Computer Knowledge Required:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).


  • Develop and lead the vision and strategy of DMC to complement KGHMI’s objectives.
  • Plan, direct and lead operations at DMC to ensure successful operational delivery and team effectiveness with a top priority on safety processes and Zero Harm performance.
  • Create DMC management team synergy; manage diversity and promote a high performance culture to align the overall team to meet business unit objectives and core values.
  • Focus on developing and building strong client relationships.
  • Focus on using industry relationships to develop new leads and win new business.
  • Use strong business acumen and judgment to select winning strategies to deliver on expectations.
  • Accountable for the preparation and management of all capital and operating plans and budgets, project management, and taking appropriate action to remain within established and related goals.
  • Optimize the financial performance of DMC and adhere to budget targets for revenue and operating cost activities.
  • Work collaboratively and provide guidance and mentorship to key functional leaders in sectors such as operations, engineering, safety, quality and finance.
